Yoga

I practice the yoga from Swami Baba Ramdev.

My practice has evolved since I first started practicing in 2011. I like to consider it yin-yang yoga because of how I combine the postures with the movements. Depending on the body’s particular needs at a certain time I may be holding postures to stretch and strengthen. While at another time I may be physically active and moving in out of postures with the breath rapidly. Ultimately my yoga practice led me to what we call breath work.

Pranayama the divine practice of breathing exercises. It can be translated as “breath extension; breath control”. By learning methods to lengthen our inhales and exhales we begin to extend how many breaths we take in a minute. When you learn to slow down your breathing rate and extend your breaths, your heart rate slows down and you access deeper brain waves.

Meditation has been the gateway to higher consciousness since the dawn of humanity. When we can physically sit still but that wouldn’t necessarily be meditation. Meditation in my own interpretation, is the active relaxation of consciousness. Meaning, being able to fully relax the body while actively focusing on different aspects of thyself. It’s not merely calming the breath. It’s the awareness and feeling of the breath and sensations that occur within you even if a thought arises.
